Solar Ash, the upcoming indie platformer game developed by Heart Machine and published by Annapurna Interactive, gets a new trailer. The trailer reveals the new release date of the game. Initially, Solar Ash was supposed to release back in June 2021, but obviously, that didn’t happen. Now, the new release date mentioned is October 26, 2021. You can watch the trailer below.

The trailer showed off new enemies and areas as well. We saw a spider-like enemy and another boss that looked inspired by Shadow of the Colossus.

Platform

“Journey through a surreal, vivid and highly stylized world filled with mystery, wild high-speed traversal, endearing characters, and massive enemy encounters,” the official game description says.

Solar Ash is PlayStation console exclusive, meaning you can play the game on PS4, PS5, and PC. The PC version can only be bought from Epic Games Store. It’s unknown if it is a timed-exclusive game or not. So, we have no idea if Solar Ash will eventually release on Steam, Xbox, or Nintendo. You can wishlist the game on EGS.

Other Delayed Indie Games

Solar Ash isn’t the only PS-exclusive indie game that was delayed. Kena: Bridge of Spirits, which was supposed to launch in August, has also been delayed by a month. Stray has been delayed to next year, and Little Devil Inside has no release window now. I guess it’s safe to assume that all of these delays are maybe due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has not been kind to game development.

About the developer

Solar Ash is Heart Machine’s second game. Their first title was a 2D RPG game, Hyper Light Drifter, released back in 2016. The game received a positive reception from fans. So, if Solar Ash is anything like Hyper Light, then you can expect another polished game.
