SMITE: Latest Bonus Update Brings Balancing Changes in Time for SPL Playoffs

10.5 Bonus Update Titan Forge Games

The SMITE Pro League (SPL) is just around the corner. Developer Titan Forge Games wants to ensure that everything is smooth sailing before the playoffs start, so the company launched the 10.5 Bonus Update recently to make some last-minute adjustments.

In this patch, the company implemented a noteworthy change to damage mitigation. More specifically, the damage mitigation from items and gods now stacks in an additive way. This means that if an item provides 10% damage mitigation and you're using a god in SMITE that has 35%, then that would be a total of 45% damage mitigation.

If you remember from the previous patch, damage mitigation from items is capped at 25%. This affects the following:

  • Elixir of Defense – 10%
  • Spirit Robe – 15%
  • Oni Hunters garb – 9% Max
  • Berserker's Shield – 5%
  • Evolved Prophetic cloak – 15% Max
  • Sigil of the Old Guard – 12% Max
  • Lono's Mask – 15% Max

This limit simply means that any number of items working together will not provide more than 25% damage mitigation.

The 10.5 Bonus Update also adjusted some items in SMITE. The physical and magical protection granted by the Lotus Sickle's passive have been reduced from 15 to 10.

The Leather Cowl has been nerfed as well. According to the company, most hunters in the game have deemed the Leather Cowl as their go-to option, leaving its competitors in the dust. To make other items more appealing, Titan Forge Games reduced the physical power granted by Leather Cowl from 18 to 15.

Of course, a balancing patch will not be complete without tweaks for certain gods. The company nerfed the top meta gods in SPL to encourage some shifts in the meta for the upcoming playoffs. You can read the changes below:

Cernunnos

  • Heavy Glaive
    • Decreased Damage from 30% to 25% of his basic attack damage
  • The Wild Hunt
    • Decreased Polymorph Duration from 2s to 1.5s

Guan Yu

  • Taoulu Assault
    • Decreased max stacks from 4 to 3 on the protection steal
    • Decreased boosted max stacks from 4 on 3 of the protection steal

Hel

  • Hinder (Cleanse)
    • Decreased the Protection Reduction Debuff on Hinder from 5/10/15/20/25 +10% to 5/7.5/10/12.5/15 + 5%

Hercules

  • Mitigate Wounds
    • Decreased Damage Returned as Healing from 20/28/36/44/52% to 20/26/32/38/44%

Martichoras

  • Poisoned Barb
    • Increased Cooldown from 12/11.5/11/10.5/10 seconds to 13/12.5/12/11.5/11 seconds
  • Death from Above
    • Decreased Physical Power Scaling per Hit from 20% to 18%
    • Max 12 ticks

Nox

  • Night Terror
    • Decreased the Damage Dealt Debuff this ability places on enemies from 40% to 30%

Serqet

  • Deathbane
    • Decreased the Protection Reduction Debuff from 10% to 5%
  • Cobra's Kiss
    • Decreased Madness duration from 1.4s to 1.2 at all ranks
  • Last Breath
    • Decreased Passive Crit Chance from ranking up this ability from 10/15/20/25/30% to 0/5/10/15/20%

Vamana

  • Sleeping Giant
    • Decreased the amount of Physical Power gained from Physical Protections from 25% to 20%
    • Decreased the amount of Attack Speed gained from Physical Protections from 15% to 10%
  • Colossal Fury
    • Decreased Physical Power gained from 45/55/65/75/85 to 35/45/55/65/75
