A slew of details have just been released for the upcoming Dota Pro Circuit. Apparently, the 2019-20 season is going to introduce a bunch of significant changes to the rules and guidelines.

Perhaps the biggest change coming is about who can earn points. Dota Pro Circuit points can now be accumulated by all 16 teams expected to play in the Major, including all eight teams in the Minor. The same thing can also be said for professional Dota 2 teams competing in the regional qualifiers. The latter, in particular, is without a doubt a very significant adjustment.

For the Minors, the total points will be 660; whereas the Majors will offer 15,000 points. Qualifiers, on the other hand, will also have their own share of points.

Apart from the aforementioned changes, the Major and Minor qualifiers have also been combined in order to offer “a single, shorter one, reducing complexity and time for players and organizers.” By doing so, players will be able to acquire more time to rest and process their visas.

Another change coming to Dota Pro Circuit is the deadline of the registration. It is now scheduled for September 28, 2019. For interested players or teams, they can participate in the qualifiers by taking note of the dates below:

  • Qualifier #1: Sep 30-Oct 5
  • Qualifier #2: Dec 1-Dec 6
  • Qualifier #3: Feb 9-Feb 14
  • Qualifier #4: Mar 29-Apr 3
  • Qualifier #5: May 17-May 22

The International 2020 is definitely going to be another interesting event in the history of competitive Dota 2. Given how OG managed to defend their title, fans would love to see a three-peat from the team. Of course, given how flexible and vast the pro teams are in the scene, it is still possible for the TI9 champs to succumb to defeat. As of this writing, teams are still busy reshuffling their rosters in hopes of finding better talents as they ready themselves for the upcoming season.
