Rainbow Six Siege boasts the most highly trained operators, armed with Sig assault rifles with tactical scopes and laser sights—but what happens when they don't know what they're fighting? We get a glimpse of that terror in the latest Rainbow Six Siege: Outbreak trailer, Ash's Call to Arms:

As we've learned last week, Outbreak is a parasite that spawns "exploding monstrosities" and "hulking horrors," armored monsters that promise to push the destruction engine like never before. The trailer doesn't really give us a clear glimpse of the monsters of Outbreak, but the spindly silhouettes and eerie shrieks and growls sound very similar to the Demogorgons from Stranger Things. And if the show has taught us anything, it's that bullets and grenades will hardly slow down a swarm—you'll need Eleven for that.

Lack of telekinetic powers aside, the Rainbow Six operators are formidable. In the latest teaser, Ash is already at the scene and calls in a request for Rainbow's best:

"I've got no operational jurisdiction. Get them to let go a little. We're not the enemy here. If this isn't terrorism, they still need us. Send Thermite, Doc. And I need one of the Russians—I'll explain later."

The Russian is likely one of the new CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) operators to arrive in the upcoming update. According to a past post on the Siege blog, the Russian is a specialist who works with advanced "self-dissolving nanobots." Ubisoft has yet to specify exactly what these nanobots do.

Outbreak event will pit players against five unique infected archetypes with distinct abilities. Work as a team under pressure and fortify their positions and environments as the creatures close in. Playable Outbreak ops include the two unannounced Chimera operators as well as Smoke, Ying, Buck, Kapkan, Ash, Doc, Tachanka, Glaz, and your best Recruit.

The Rainbow Six Siege Outbreak event will be available to players from March 6 to April 3. Stay tuned as we learn more in the weeks ahead.
