Earlier this June, Sega announced the Sega Mega Drive 2 (or Genesis Mini 2, if you’re in other regions). Now, the company has confirmed a proper Western release date for the mini console, with the SEGA Genesis Mini 2 launching on the same date as its Japanese counterpart on October 27. The announcement was accompanied by a promotional video which you can check out below.

The SEGA Genesis Mini 2 will be available exclusively on Amazon for $103.80. Pre-orders are now live on the site and will ship directly from Amazon Japan. The SEGA Genesis Mini 2, as previously announced by SEGA, will have over 50 classic games in its library, including a slew of SEGA CD titles and previously unreleased games on the first iteration of the SEGA Genesis Mini. The SEGA Genesis Mini 2 features several improvements over its predecessor, the SEGA Genesis Mini. First up, it sports revamped and improved hardware, with the console sporting the iconic design of the SEGA Genesis Model 2. The mini console will also come with a six-button control pad, a significant upgrade over the SEGA Genesis Mini’s wired three-button control pads. However, there’s a bit of a downgrade as well, as the SEGA Genesis Mini 2 will include only one wired controller as opposed to the predecessor’s two.

The current catalog still has more than half of the games to be revealed, so stay tuned for further announcements on the upcoming titles for the SEGA Genesis Mini 2.
