Alongside the release of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, Samsung unveiled the Samsung Gear 360 Sunday at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The 360-degree camera pairs with your S7 or your Samsung Gear to capture immersive photos and videos.

“With the Gear 360, what we have created is a new way to tell stories, a new way to capture the world around us,” said Samsung Vice President of Research Pranav Mistry at MWC. “It’s 360 because the real world is not in one direction, it’s everywhere all around us.”

The Gear 360 features an amazing F2.0 aperture, which delivers stunning video quality with amazing focus. With dual fisheye lenses, the Gear 360 also features 15MP with 3840x1920 high-resolution. Samsung said the device also supports 30 megapixel still images.

“Samsung continues to push the boundaries of the mobile experience to extend beyond the smartphone,” said DJ Koh, Samsung President of Mobile Communications, at MWC. “On the heels of last year’s Gear VR release, Gear 360 continues to push the limits on immersive content – providing a visual experience that makes capturing and sharing life’s moments even easier.”

After filming on the Gear 360, videos and photos taken will be automatically synched and available on your phone. The Gear 360 is compatible with Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge and Galaxy S6.

Content created can also be enhanced so you can enjoy the full experience with your Samsung Gear VR.

“Now you can create 360 VR experience on your own,” Pranav said. “With the S7 in your pocked, it will do all the software magic to prepare your videos to be watched on Gear VR.”

Samsung did not reveal a specific release date (Q2) or price for the Gear 360 camera at MWC. Stay with iDigialTimes for updates on the Samsung line and other products throughout MWC.

“The Gear 360 transforms the way memories are made and experiences are shared,” Koh said at MWC.
