Self-proclaimed Resident Evil expert Alex Aniel, found an interview on Capcom’s Japanese website and translated it to reveal some information about a new unannounced Resident Evil game. The interview is between Resident Evil 7 Director Kōshi Nakanishi and Resident Evil 5 Production Director Yasuhiro Anpo for Stevivor.

According to Aniel’s translation, Nakanishi mentions his work on Resident Evil 7:

“This time, I focused on making a game about fear, but one must not forget about the existing characters and stories. By creating a pillar that says ‘ Resident Evil is a scary game,’ we’ve also managed to make it easier to develop/iterate on other elements of Resident Evil as well.”

“Also, there are many creators at Capcom, including myself, who love Resident Evil , and Anpo-san has something worthy praise that’s in development as well,” Nakanishi added.

“I can’t announce anything yet, but as of now, I’ve been developing a certain product, please look forward to it,” Anpo responded.

This doesn’t sound like the in-development remake of Resident Evil 2, so it could be Resident Evil 8 or the third entry in the Revelations spin-off series. With Anpo a creative lead on some of the best games in the franchise I’m excited to see what he’s working on. Stay tuned for more info.
