Resident Evil 8 Village, the direct sequel of the hit RE7: Biohazard, was announced a month ago during the PlayStation 5 reveal event. The game was showed off via an announcement trailer that gave us only a sliver of information. We know that the game will launch for next-gen consoles and PC in 2021 and that the game is set in a creepy village. Werewolves and witches were also shown. But that’s about it.

We didn’t see any actual gameplay, but we do know that the game will be in the first-person mode like its predecessor (which I love). Now, some leaks have made their way to the internet. A report by Biohazard Declassified revealed more information about the enemies, boss fights, and gameplay. A VR version for PS5 was also revealed. All of this supposed info was revealed by someone who was involved in a playtest.

Do keep in mind that these leaks are unverified and could easily be wrong. That said, a VR version of Resident Evil 8 does makes sense. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard also had a VR version that was exclusive to PS4, and still is. Given the fact that both games are in first-person mode, it isn't too far-fetched to believe this leak.

As mentioned above, we also got more information about enemies. “The enemies within these areas are very pale, almost rotten skin, with tattoos on their foreheads and hands. Some with armor, but not like knight armor, that can also be shot off.” The report said. “They do speak in a distorted foreign language. Some carried daggers, swords, axes, and even spears. There are some without armed weapons. They jump and grab and bite similar to Resident Evil 3, and you can button-mash to take less damage.”

The report also talked about a boss fight against a creepy lady named Olga. The boss fight will consist of both stealth and shooting mechanics, so if you screw up the stealth, it’s not an instant game over. “Once opening the door the lady in black named Olga appeared and released a swarm of insects. The player won’t have to fight the insects unless she spots Ethan. She would laugh constantly whenever she spots him.” The leaks further added. “In this boss fight, players grabbed a torch to use fire to scare her insects off to get Olga exposed to shoot her. After a bit of shooting, she’ll transform into this insect/spider-like creature with long spider legs and releasing more insects coming out from her insect-like bottom.”

The upcoming Resident Evil is also going to have an ‘Unfair’ difficulty level that will really test players. The number of enemies will be tripled and they will be tough AF. The VR version of the game is supposed to be revealed by Sony themselves. Only time will tell whether any of these leaks hold any weight.
