Following its initial tease during Nintendo’s E3 2019 Presentation last month, we finally now have more information regarding the upcoming Switch ports for Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6.

According to a tweet from the official Resident Evil Twitter account, Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 will be heading to the Switch just in time for Halloween on October 29. The two titles will be made available separately digitally on the eShop for $29.99 each, with all their additional content and DLC included. Check out the official tweet below.

Going through the official blog post also reveals a few more surprises, which goes both ways depending on how you look at it. The post reveals that in addition to the two separate digital releases for Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, Capcom will also release the Resident Evil Triple Pack, a collection of both games plus the critically-acclaimed Resident Evil 4, which released on the platform earlier this year.

Now on to the more interesting stuff. Resident Evil 4’s release on the Switch was met with some backlash, considering that it did not have a physical release and was only available digitally. A petition was even made for Capcom to release the title as a physical edition for the Switch, which of course went nowhere. However, what’s interesting now is that this Resident Evil Triple Pack is indeed a physical release, but only for Resident Evil 4; Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 will be included as download codes for the eShop.

On one hand, this is great news for those who didn’t get Resident Evil 4 for the Switch yet, as now they’ll be able to enjoy it in a physical release. Some backlash came, however, with the fact that Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 are being bundled as digital downloads rather than actual, separate physical releases, which should give the consumers more choices on what specific edition they want to buy. What’s even more unfortunate is the fact that should a physical release of both Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 be made available at a later date, players who already bought the collection and want to get a physical version will suddenly find themselves double-dipping for the games.

Confusing releases aside, you can expect both Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 to drop digitally on the eShop on October 29. The Resident Evil Triple Pack will also be made available on the same date.
