Red Dead Redemption 2's second trailer has released, showing off new protagonist Arthur Morgan and his comrades in the Van der Linde gang. While the new trailer is fantastic, showing beautiful vistas, murky swamps and everything in between, there isn't any new release date announcement aside from a generic "Spring 2018."

Interestingly, the trailer doesn't quite confirm when Red Dead Redemption 2 will take place compared to the first. We can see Dutch Van der Linde, the main bad guy from Red Dead Redemption, at the very end of the trailer wearing a fancy vest. He appears younger compared to how he looks in Red Dead Redemption, which would mean the sequel is actually a prequel detailing the rise of the Van der Linde gang.

What does this mean for former hero John Marston? As we saw in flashback sequences of Red Dead Redemption, Marston was a member of Dutch's gang before "retiring" when the gang botched a robbery in 1906. If this is a prequel, Marston will be one of your fellow gang members.

As for our new hero Arthur Morgen, the trailer makes it sound like his father has recently died and he is wanted by the police. Morgen joins up with Dutch's gang to gain some safety from the law while also helping rob banks.

Once again assuming this is a prequel, Red Dead Redemption 2 will certainly be filled with bank robberies and other heists. As mentioned in Red Dead Redemption, the Van der Linde gang had robbed over 40 banks. The trailer also shows what looks like a train robbery, blowing up big houses and hunting.

One thing notably absent from the trailer is any news on Red Dead Online. The online game mode has been confirmed, but we don't know what to expect beyond that. Rockstar will be releasing more information on the game mode as we get closer to the Spring 2018 release date.

So what do you think? Are you interested in seeing the story leading up to Red Dead Redemption? Are you sad to know you won't be playing as John Marston again? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
