Rainbow Six Siege continues to evolve, as the latest mid-season reinforcement update is slated to arrive Oct. 26. It will introduce improvements to the network, along with major changes to old and new operators alike. According to Wednesday's Mid-Season Reinforcement preview event on Twitch, network improvements will focus on ping, latency, hit validation. Significant changes will also be made to Kapkan, Ela, and Blitz.

Ping discrepancies will cause certain players to take longer for a server to validate their position and to register their hits. Because a player may already be at a location on his screen while the server is still a couple milliseconds behind, a phenomenon known as “seeker’s advantage” will arise — a player can turn the corner a fraction of a second before it is registered on an enemy player’s screen. In order to fix this issue, Ubisoft’s new Latency Alignment System is said to “more accurately mirror the reaction time of a shooter with an unstable connection.” The effectiveness of this new system is to be determined, but we certainly appreciate the team’s efforts to create fairer exchanges.

The main changes made in the upcoming Mid-Season Reinforcements can be found in the new Kapkan, Ela and Blitz. First up, Kapkan will change from a 3-Armor, 1-Speed to a 2-Armor, 2-Speed operator. Why the extra speed? The Siege update now equips Kapkan with five traps instead of three. What’s more, the bright laser trip wire is now invisible to players. And because the traps are more stealthy and Kapkan has more of them, Ubisoft also nerfed the traps to only deal 60 damage.

Next, players have claimed Ela has become too OP. In fact, she instantly became one of the most used operators in Siege Pro League competition. A nerf will take away one of Ela’s Grzmot mines as well as increase the recoil of her high-capacity SMG. Finally, Ubisoft has given the unpopular Blitz a makeover. It’s a small change, but Blitz can now use the shield to cover his body while sprinting. We’ll definitely be keen to see how the new changes to these operators stand to change the meta once more in the next season of Pro League.

Last but not least, the latest Rainbow Six Siege Mid-Season Reinforcement update will introduce a brand-new Elite skin set for Jager. You can check it out in the image below as well as the full Mid-Season Reinforcement patch notes. Are you excited for the new Siege update? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
