Spawn killing is becoming a big problem in Rainbow Six Siege ranked games. As Rainbow Six Siege currently stands, defenders are given a two-second window to leave the building before they are detected by the enemy team. While two seconds may not feel a lot, it's definitely enough time for players with high map intelligence to pick out attackers very quickly.

Defenders are known to take advantage of that 2-second window to randomly throw C4 at possible attacker spawn points for easy kills. What's more, a reddit post screen captured damage taken from a spawn peeker before the attacker's gun was even completely drawn. The developers are definitely aware of the issue, but there isn't always a simple solution.

Australian website Finder.com spoke with Ubisoft Montreal Creative Director Xavier Marquis regarding the issue and discussed the beginning of Rainbow Six Siege, where defenders with given a five-second window to roam outside before receiving detection. That gap was shortened to two, and now, Marquis is considering if no time gap at all is a more viable solution.

Ubisoft brand director Alexandre Remy, who also spoke with Finder, shared his thoughts about the spawn killing issues in Rainbow Six Siege as well:

"We’d like to see some changes to the timer for defenders leaving the building, mainly because of defenders that run outside to spawn kill at the start of the round," Remy said. "It’s tough, this one. Maybe we should go see the research lab and ask them about exactly that. If there are any sort of learnings we can get. Because these are purely opinions on pros and cons.

"But when I say, 'Yeah, it’s super cool because certain defenders roam and change the state of the match by roaming outside, taking a high risk and it’s a high reward.' At some point at some times, it happens to be, like, 'Guys, come on!' Especially at the point where it’s almost spawn killing."

Whether Ubisoft implements 'no-time-gap' for detecting defenders leaving the building remains to be seen. In the meantime, stay tuned as we expect to learn more about the Rainbow Six Siege Year 2 Season 2 DLC in the weeks ahead.
