Pre-registrations for the closed beta of Rainbow Six Mobile are now open. The closed beta itself is scheduled for later this fall. The game offers 5v5 matches designed to be played in short and accessible bursts on Android and iOS.

Iconic Maps

It’s a free-to-play game that features iconic maps from Rainbow Six Siege such as Bank and Border.

Bank is a map located in the middle of a highly populated city. The bank itself is heavily fortified, and attackers are going to have difficulty finding objectives since the building is composed of several small and medium-sized rooms, which can be easily reinforced by the defenders.

Border, meanwhile, is a map with an outpost located at the border of two countries. Surrounded by deserted mountains, the map is composed of old and new buildings and open areas.

Development

It was back in April when Ubisoft announced that it was working on a new game called Rainbow Six Mobile. One of the reasons why they decided to have a mobile version was because they wanted players around the world to enjoy this FPS wherever and whenever they want.

While the core gameplay, characters, and even maps are similar to Rainbow Six Siege, the game was built from scratch with mobile usability being the main consideration. That means players can expect a new gameplay control system, one made for mobile devices. There are also extensive optimization of the UI and in-game visual presentation.

The dev team assured everyone that the goal of the game was not to make those playing on PC or console switch to the mobile platform. Instead, it’s a way to play the game in short periods while also getting new players to have the Rainbow Six experience.

For those wondering, Rainbow Six Mobile is not going to have a cross-platform feature that allows crossplay with the PC or console versions.

What do you think? Is a mobile version a good way to go?
