Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction announced that some of the post-launch content is going to be free. There’s even an evolving endgame coming during its worldwide launch on January 20.

Maelstrom Protocol

One of the post-launch content is the Maelstrom Protocol. This is a weekly challenge mode with tiered ranks and developed for the most skilled Rainbow Six players. In this mode, players need to go through a series of nine subzones that increase in difficulty, offer tougher enemies, have allotted time getting shorter, and see resources quickly depleted. The thing is at the end of each stage, there’s a checkpoint where players need to choose whether to bank their points and get extracted or try to push to the end. There are five classes that players get to place which are Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Each class rewards players with not only special headgear but even REACT Credits.

Crisis Events and Assignments

There are also different exciting challenges like Crisis Events. These are limited-time and game-changing events that have themed content like introducing a new Operator to the roster or defeating a new Protean enemy. The first Crisis Event is titled Spillover. Here players need to wipe out mass colonies of an evolved version of the Sprawl while hordes of Archæans attempt to stop them. The events reward exclusive REACT Tech, new cosmetics, and new lore.

Furthermore, there are Assignments or weekly modes that have gameplay modifiers, which are sure to put the players’ skills to the test. An example is taking on the Veteran Mode but with friendly fire enabled, limited ammo, and no HUD. Think you can handle it?

At launch, players can immediately try not only Maelstrom Protocol but also the weekly Assignments. The Crisis Events are set to be released at a later date.

Right now, pre-order for Rainbow Six Extraction is already available for Standard and Deluxe editions. There is also the Buddy Pass which allows players to invite their friends to play. Learn more about these here.
