Raiden was initially only available in arcades in Japan, under the development of Seibu Kaihatsu. It was finally ported to PlayStation in 1995, and since then other versions for home computers and game consoles were released. The Raiden license was purchased by MOSS in 2005 following Seibu Kaihatsu’s bankruptcy, and since then the studio has handled the games’ development. Raiden V, the most current mainline entry in the series, was released in 2016.
