Psychonauts 2 Named Game of the Year at the New York Game Awards 2022

And the winners are... New York Videogame Critics Circle

Psychonauts 2 won the Big Apple Award for Best Game of the Year at the 11th Annual New York Game Awards. The game beat seven other games, including Deathloop, Halo Infinite, Life Is Strange: True Colors, and Resident Evil: Village.

It’s not the only thing that developer Double Fine took home. Psychonauts 2 also won the Statue of Liberty Award for Best World. In this category, it beat out titles like Far Cry 6, Monster Hunter Rise, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Psychonauts 2 is a game where players control a young acrobat Raz. Raz is training to be a Psychonaut, a member of an international task force that uses psychic abilities to stop those that use their psychic forces for nefarious deeds. It's available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Two Wins

Psychonauts 2 isn’t the only game that brought home two awards. Sable not only brought home the Off Broadway Award for Best Indie Game but also the Tin Pan Alley Award for Best Music in a Game. Developed by Shedworks, Sable is an open-world exploration video game released in September 2021 on Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Another game that also won two awards was Resident Evil 4 VR. It grabbed the Coney Island Dreamland Award for Best AR/VR Game and Freedom Tower Award for Best Remake.

The 11th annual New York Game Awards was held yesterday, February 1. It’s organized by the New York Videogame Critics Circle, a not-for-profit multicultural organization composed of 40 of the finest video game critics, writers, reporters, and bloggers in the US.
