According to French multimedia distributor Innelec Media, we’ll be seeing the release of the next Sony console before October, according to a financial report the company released earlier this week.

As Innelec puts it, “The current year should be marked for the video game world by the arrival, in the first half of our fiscal year, an evolution of the Sony PS4 PS4 console with the Neo 4K with new features and that the placing on the market in October 2016 virtual reality helmet Sony VR.” Apologies if that’s a bit hard to interpret, as nobody at iDigitalTimes is fluent in French.

Basically, the report states the new PS4 Neo (or whatever it ends up getting named) will be coming out in the first half of Innelec’s fiscal year. Seeing as how the company’s fiscal year started on March 1, the first half will end Sept. 30. The report also mentions the console coming before the October release of the PlayStation VR headset.

As for what the console will actually be like, that all still remains a rumor. It’s generally assumed the new console will be capable of 4K resolution, and will feature upgraded hardware.

If these reports of a September release are true, Sony would be smart to debut the new console at this year’s E3. It would be the biggest stage the company could hope for, and there will be a few months needed to build up an advertisement campaign. A Sony press conference hasn’t been officially announced or planned yet, but one will likely be happening on June 13, the Monday before the E3 showfloor opens.
