April 16, 2020 isn’t that far away into the future, but with all this information being released about Cyberpunk 2077, it kinda feels like the highly anticipated RPG’s launch date cannot come soon enough.

A new gameplay demo for the CD Projekt RED title has been presented to the Polish press last week. As is expected, a lot of new information about Cyberpunk 2077 has been unleashed on the Internet. This information comes from three Polish websites (WP GRY, Miastogier and Onet) who were among those invited to the gameplay demo behind closed doors.

These updates induced a number of reactions from the internet, ranging from “meh” to “wow I can’t believe they’ve done this”. Here are some of the most notable ones:

  • Some merchants will offer unique items and discounts only for a specific period of time
    • Similar to Borderlands’ vending machines that offered special weapons for a limited time, this mechanic introduces a bit of RNG for Cyberpunk 2077.
  • Mini-games related to hacking will be different depending on the installation you hack
  • The scarcity of objects corresponds to its availability rate in stores. The rarer an object is, the more street cred it takes for a seller to offer it.
  • Your reputation in-game dictates if you are able to get upgrades and crafting components the easy way or the fun, guns blazing way.
  • Religions are still very present in Night City. Some things will look like our current reality. For example, Christianity is present in the game and will even have a faction
    • This update certainly makes for a much more realistic Cyberpunk 2077. Although much like their recent announcement of introducing transgender options for character customization, this may put the studio in hot water yet again.
  • The type of your character will be at your convenience. You will not necessarily choose strictly a man or a woman. One can have a male body with feminine attributes, a feminine voice and feminine hair. The type of voice will impact how NPCs will perceive you.
  • Being perceived by NPCs based on your voice is a mechanic reminiscent from the one in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. In that game, your overall appearance (blood on your clothes, being dirty, being clean etc.,) elicits different reactions from NPCs and can affect your interactions with them. This is definitely something hardcore RPG fans will be looking forward to in Cyberpunk 2077.

There are dozens more of other minor gameplay announcements and details, which can be read completely in this thread on ResetEra. If that doesn't spark your excitement about Cyberpunk 2077, then I don’t know what will. The game will release on April 16, 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
