Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are releasing The Crown Tundra on October 22. This is the second set of downloadable content and introduces Trainers to a vast and frigid landscape with drifts of glittering snow and jagged mountains.

This was revealed by none other than The Pokémon Company President and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara. Ishihara also gave updates on newly discovered Pokémon in the Crown Tundra region along with new game features.

With The Crown Tundra, Trainers should be able to encounter each Legendary Pokémon that has appeared in the main series of the Pokémon video games. Players can also find, and even catch, these Legendary Pokémon as they travel in the Crown Tundra or while on Dynamax Adventures.

What are Dynamax Adventures? In these, players form a team with three other Trainers and explore a Pokémon Den that is said to have Dynamax Pokémon lurking. Instead of their usual Pokémon team, the team members need to choose Pokémon that they can temporarily use for battle. When the team encounters a wild Dynamax Pokémon as they explore, everyone must work together in a Max Raid Battle. If the team manages to win the battle, they have the chance to catch the Dynamax Pokémon and one member can swap it for what they already have.

Going back to The Crown Tundra, there’s going to be a special in-game event where players can get eight different Pikachu for their teams. Trainers need to find special passwords in places like the Pokémon Trainer Club e-mail newsletter and the Pokémon Twitter feed. Once they have the password, they just enter it to the game and get the Pikachu. This special event started on September 29 and ends on October 30.
