Pokémon Sun and Moon is ready to release in November, but with Pokémon Go holding a strong presence on mobile devices the obvious question is whether the two will be linked somehow.

In an interview with Game Informer , both Junichi Masuda, series producer/composer, and Sun and Moon Director Shigeru Ohmori were asked about the phenomenon that is Pokémon Go and whether there will be something to bring Pokémon Go players to Sun and Moon.

“With Pokémon Go , yeah, we definitely want to have some kind of – at some point – some kind of connectivity, some way the games can interact. A lot of people, of course, knew Pokémon from the animated series, but Pokémon Go reached even way more people than the anime. It's released in more countries and has reached a much wider audience,” Masuda said. “So, I think a lot of people maybe learned about Pokémon for the first time from Pokémon Go , the core concept of throwing out a Pokéball and catching a Pokémon, so we don't want to waste that. We want people who picked up Pokémon and learned about it through Pokémon Go to also play Sun and Moon and the main series games. We want to have a kind of way to connect the two, or have a way for people who enjoyed one to enjoy some of their progress in the other. But that will definitely come down the road.”

This isn’t the first time Masuda talked about a possible connection between Pokémon Go and Pokémon Sun and Moon . In an interview with Famitsu back in July , Masuda was asked about Pokémon Go and the possibility of the mobile game linking to Pokémon Sun and Moon . This is what he had to say:

“[Masuda, Ohmori] are also considering linkage with the smartphone app Pokémon Go which came out earlier this month. However, Masuda said that Pokémon Go is a game about catching Pokemon by walking all around the world. And even with the same Pokemon species, they have different appearance methods and catch rates in Sun/Moon . If they are to link the two games, they have to do it in a way that doesn’t break the balance of either game and even end up making both games boring. They still need to find an interesting idea that could make both games more interesting.”

Pokémon Sun and Moon will release Nov. 18.
