'Pokémon Scarlet and Violet' Bug on Switch 2: Characters, Maps Become Blindingly Bright—Why?

What is happening, Game Freak?

The Nintendo Switch 2 is now here, and it brings new experiences to gamers even for old games from the original console including, "Pokémon Scarlet and Violet." However, it seems like not all of its issues have been addressed.

It was revealed last week that "Pokémon Scarlet and Violet" received its Switch 2 enhancements that bring significant upgrades to the game that will match the new console's hardware capabilities.

However, a player who was able to play "Pokemon Scarlet and Violet" on their new Switch 2 console shared online that there is a bug that causes everything in the game to get blindingly bright.

'Pokémon Scarlet and Violet' Switch 2 Bug

A Redditor named u/cakebomb321 has recently posted a video showing off the "Pokémon Scarlet and Violet" experience on the Nintendo Switch 2, but instead of discovering new experiences here, it showed off flaws of the game.

The user revealed that players will not encounter the bug that makes everything bright at the start of the game as it occurs at a later time.

Specifically, after opting to leave the house to set out for the adventure, players would be met with blindingly bright graphics of the game, according to GameRant.

The report reveals that this wild bug covers everything in the game with a "crystalline texture" and in the right lighting conditions in-game, it could impede the experience for players. Almost all aspects of the game get transformed into assets with blinding features, with players and Pokémon appearing almost indistinguishable because of the glitch.

Only the dialogue box remains unchanged in the experience based on the screen recording from the OP, but the good thing is that not all ports to the new console are affected.

What Is Happening to Switch 2's 'Scarlet and Violet'?

That being said, players who come across this glitch in their "Pokémon Scarlet and Violet" experience on the Switch 2 essentially cannot play the game as it almost blocks out everything with its brightness.

As of writing, there are still no specific reasons behind this bug, with neither Game Freak nor Nintendo addressing the issues present on the new console and the ported game.

According to GameRant, while there are still no specifics as to what causes this, players now have a consensus that the issue lies in the Nintendo Switch 2 rather than the game itself. It was revealed that it is potentially the Switch 2's driver issue that causes the game to "crystallize," but there are still no confirmations from the company itself regarding this.

As of press time, there are also no suggested fixes for this bug on "Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's" Switch 2 version, and the OP has yet to update the post.
