'Pokémon GO' Players Refuse to Evolve These Shiny Pokémon—Here's Why

Why do players avoid evolving these Shiny Pokémon?
Pokemon GO

Catching Shiny Pokémon in "Pokémon GO" is a treat, and the best thing about them is that they could be part of one's rare collection and also be evolved. However, many players have shared their sentiments on which specific Shiny Pokémon they are avoiding evolving, especially as it "worsens" these creatures.

Evolutions are supposed to make specific creatures better and stronger, and while these new forms indeed make them have more combat power (CP) or new moves, their looks are the ones that trainers refer to that get worse.

'Pokémon GO' Players Refuse to Evolve These Shinies

According to a report by ComicBook Gaming, many "Pokémon GO" trainers are now talking about which Shiny Pokémon they would opt not to evolve despite having enough candies or Stardust needed for the process. These trainers claim that they would rather keep the original Shiny version of these said creatures rather than evolve them into their next Shiny forms.

The reason is not because of the low combat power or moves that they get after the evolution, but because of how the evolved version looks, which they claim is "worse" than their original shiny form in the game.

Trainers have discussed this via the r/pokemongo subreddit where players have chimed in on which Pokémon they avoid evolving, opting to keep them in their cute and special form.

Shiny Psyduck to Golduck

Shiny Psyduck brings a different look to the original version of the Generation I creature as instead of the yellow and cream color, the iconic Water/ Psychic-type duck is now in ice blue.

This specific Shiny version is appreciated by many, but for those who went ahead and evolved theirs, they got a Shiny Golduck, which has a darker blue version of its original look.

Many players have said that this evolution is not worth it.

Shiny Wooloo to Dubwool

Shiny Wooloo is described by trainers as a "cutie" as while the Pokémon's original version is already adorable in white, its Shiny version which appears in a darker shade. Trainers want to keep Wooloo in its shiny form because of its cuteness that a Shiny Dubwool does not give justice to.

Shiny Skorupi to Drapion

Redditors have agreed that the next Shiny Pokemon to avoid evolving is a Shiny Skorupi which takes on the iconic crimson red color from its original violet one. However, opting to upgrade it into Drapion brings a "less intense" look that the series already nailed with its base form and is overall something that many would avoid doing.

Shiny Slakoth to Vigoroth, Slaking

Shiny Slakoth is in pink, and this ultimately changes the look of the character to a better one that is beloved by players. However, evolving it into Vigoroth and then Slaking would only give players a slightly tweaked version of them from their original forms and does not adopt the bright pink look of its original form.

Shiny Munna to Musharna

In the Reddit thread, the last top upvoted creature players want to avoid evolving is Shiny Munna as it got the yellow color change instead of its original pink version, which players also found "perfect."

Its evolution to Musharna brings only an inverted color scheme from its original one, with the addition of blue, which players want to avoid.
