There's a lot in store for Trainers everywhere this February in Pokémon Go. For one, there's going to be a Legendary Pokémon making its official debut this month. There are also events that celebrate the Sinnoh region and Valentine's Day.

New Pokémon

Beginning February 4 at 4:00 p.m. EST, the Cyclone Pokémon Tornadus makes his official debut in five-star raids. Originally discovered in the Unova region, the story is that when Tornadus flies, he creates a wind so strong it blows away everything surrounding it. Be sure to prepare as Tornadus is only available until February 25 at 4:00 p.m. EST.

Sinnoh Region

To celebrate all the Pokémon discovered in the Sinnoh region, a special celebration will take place from February 7 at 8:00 a.m. (local time) to February 10 at 10:00 p.m. (local time). During this event, any Pokémon first discovered in this region is going to appear more often in the wild and in raids. In addition, all 7 km eggs obtained during the event exclusively hatches certain Pokémon from the region like:

  • Bronzor
  • Budew
  • Combee
  • Gible
  • Hippopotas
  • Mantyke
  • Riolu

Valentine's Day

From February 14 until February 17, pink Pokémon are set to appear more often in the wild, in raids, in Eggs, and as Field Research encounters. This also marks the debut of Audino, the Hearing Pokémon, and Alomomola, the Caring Pokémon. While the event is ongoing, regular Lure Modules are going to last six hours, with players receiving a 2X Catch Candy bonus. For those lucky enough, they could hatch a Shiny Happiny or encounter a Shiny Chansey in the wild.

There's also going to be a Raid Day scheduled on February 15 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., local time. This event is going to feature Lickitung in four-star raids. Trainers can also get as much as five extra Raid Passes for free during the event by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms.

Research Breakthrough

Started last February 1 and set to end on March 1 at 1:00 p.m. EST, the Bat Pokémon Woobat is giving out bonus Woobat Candies as Research Breakthrough encounters.

Save Shadow Raikou

For those who manage to complete the lastet set of Team GO Rocket Special Research, they get access to February’s Team GO Rocket Special Research, titled A Professor's Work Is Never Done. In this one, Trainers need to beat Team GO Rocket, its leaders, as well as Giovanni in order to rescue the Legendary Shadow Pokémon Raikou. It's important to finish this Special Research by the end of February before Shadow Raikou makes the decision to leave.

Special Friendship Weekend Event

February isn't just about couples, but also showing love for friends. Beginning February 21 at 8:00 p.m. until February 24 at 10:00 p.m., Trainers get these exclusive bonuses:

  • Friendship levels increase faster
  • 2x Trade Candy
  • 1/2 Trade Stardust cost
  • The number of Gifts Trainers can open daily increases to 40.
  • The number of Gifts Trainers can carry in their inventory increases to 20.

New Experiments

The Pokémon Go team revealed that they are always looking for ways to make the gameplay experience better. Two events are going to be tested this month:

  • Pokémon Spotlight Hour
    • Features a surprise Pokémon.
    • This Pokémon is going to more frequently in the wild on Tuesday, February 4 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time.
  • Mystery Bonus Hour
    • Features a mystery bonus.
    • This unknown bonus is set to be live in the app on Thursday, February 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time.
