At long last, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has provided both a price and timeline for the debut of PlayStation VR, the proprietary headset that Sony executives are hoping millions of fans will pair with their PS4 when the VR headset hits stores later this year.

It looks like Sony will be able to hit its original launch window for PlayStation VR, with room to spare, the company confirmed during its annual PlayStation Press Conference on Monday night. After months of waiting, and a handful of convention appearances, SIE is finally ready to commit to an October 13 release date for its most ambitious PS4 peripheral to date. The base price remains unchanged, at $400, and there was no word on any new bundles or other ways to acquire the VR headset. The company is promising support for more than 50 games before the end of 2016, some of which will undoubtedly be the same slightly-better-than-a-tech-demo fare we’ve already seen on both the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. But it looks like we’ll also be seeing some pretty amazing AAA support coming this year too, including the Final Fantasy XV VR content shown during Monday night’s presentation.

A number of retailers are already accepting pre-orders for PlayStation VR; however, it’s important to remember that this has already been the case for several months. Those who’ve yet to order a headset, and are interested in doing so, can probably still find a local game shop or online distributer that will let them pre-order Sony’s relatively affordable VR headset. Sadly, Amazon already sold through its standalone and launch bundle allocations. So don’t be shocked if you find out you’ll be waiting a bit longer than the launch date to join the PlayStation VR community.

PlayStation VR is being developed exclusively for the PS4. Sony’s first virtual reality headset heads to stores on October 13.
