Year Of The Dog, Overwatch's Lunar Revel event. Blizzard

Overwatch celebrates the Lunar New Year with a brand-new event. 2018 is the Year Of The Dog, according to the Chinese zodiac, which means new skins, emotes and game modes. Last year’s Year Of The Rooster brought Capture The Rooster, a capture-the-flag inspired mode that I hated and hope to never see again. I expect something new for the Dog—maybe a game of fetch? Though we don’t know any details outside of a tweet, it’s always fun to speculate.

The Overwatch Lunar New Year Event starts on Feb. 8, between 2 to 3 p.m. EST. Blizzard can change their mind and release the patch whenever they please, but this feels the most likely.

The Year Of The Dog event will bring back last year’s skins, emotes and icons in new Loot Boxes, along with new skins we didn’t even know we wanted. Blizzard has to milk its player base for as much cash as possible, so expect some cute skins you can’t live without. There are so many options for canine inspired cosmetics: Pharrah can be the Egyptian Anubis, Winston can have puppy dog ears and Reaper would look really good with Goofy’s face.

I expect Orisa to get a dog related skin. During the Winter Wonderland event, Orisa got an emote of her playing with a puppy that the community fell in love with immediately. It would only make sense to capitalize on that hype, especially since she’s already a quadruped. Just throw some paws on her feet, a tail on her behind and some floppy ears and you got yourself an amazing Legendary skin. Her ultimate can be a fire hydrant and her Halt! can be a tennis ball. You don’t have to pay me for these ideas, Blizzard.

What are you hoping for in the Overwatch Lunar New Year event? Tell us in the comments.
