Do you dream of working on the frontier of space? Are you searching for exciting, off-world opportunities? Can you pass a basic aptitude test? If you answered yes to all of those questions, then you are probably a great fit for the Halcyon Colony, showcased in The Outer Worlds recently released “Come To Halcyon” trailer.

With less than two months until the outer space role-playing game’s release, a teaser for The Outer Worlds’ backdrop has been unveiled by developer Obsidian Entertainment and publisher Private Division. The game will take place in the corporation-sponsored human colony named Halcyon.

The 3 minute 40 second trailer showcases the diverse locales inside Halcyon such as “Terra 2,” which looks like it serves as the colony’s main hub. Contained within it is an assortment of locations where players can eat, drink, work, and relax. It also showed the still under-development “Monarch”, a terraformed location filled with monsters and wild creatures.

Aside from the locations, viewers are also given a brief overview on The Outer World mechanics and gameplay systems. Among those revealed are the game’s weapons system, a plot moved forward by dialogue, a character development system which is introduced in the form of jobs that “anyone, even those with very low aptitude test results” can do, and combat systems that depend on whether you’re ”a brilliant scientist, or prefer working with your hands”. Lastly, the stats system is seen as a part of the in-game world’s “Career Development Program”, where players can sharpen their reflexes, strengthen their muscles, and practice their social skills.

One of the most interesting concepts introduced in the game is The Outer Worlds’ flaw system, which keeps track of your in-game weaknesses and provides specifics debuffs. This is covered in the trailer’s “comprehensive insurance system”, wherein if you have a specific weakness, you are immediately rewarded with an additional character perk. As announced earlier, this flaw system is optional.

The Outer Worlds will launch on October 25 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on the PC as an Epic Games Store exclusive. A Nintendo Switch version will follow at a later date.
