One of the many great destinations for gamers in New York City is the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center. It’s a place where fans can play the latest Nintendo games against friends or strangers and get the latest swag.

But starting Jan. 19, the Nintendo World Store will be closing its doors to undergo a massive makeover that will bring a better experience for visitors.

When the new Nintendo World Store reopens on the weekend of Feb. 19, the store will have a new look and a new feel and also….a new name. Nintendo World Store, when it reopens on Feb. 19 will be renamed Nintendo NY.

“Nintendo is constantly evolving its experiences for fans,” said Scott Moffitt , Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “The new Nintendo NY store is a must-see location for anyone that has a memory of Nintendo, or who wants to see what Nintendo has in store for the future.”

So what can fans expect from Nintendo NY? the interior will get a redesign with the latest in Wii U and Nintendo 3DS demos ready to play. There will also be a 15-foot gaming screen and more “fun elements and surprises.”

And you’ll notice in the doorway, a large bronze coin with the tagline “where everyone comes to play.”

So put the dates Feb.19-21 on your calendars, as the reopening of Nintendo NY will have a host of activities including giveaways and appearances from the Nintendo mascots. The store will also be selling exclusive souvenirs that will only be found on that weekend, including a limited-edition t-shirt featuring Mario or Link.

The Nintendo World Store in New York City has been a staple in Rockefeller Plaza since it opened as the Pokemon Center before becoming the Nintendo World Store in 2005. Ever since then, the store has hosted plenty of midnight releases for the upcoming Nintendo games as well as tournaments for gamers to come and test their skills.

Amiibo hunters have flocked to the Nintendo World Store in the past months to get their hands on the rarest amiibo as they are usually the first store to get the latest shipment.
