Nintendo is at the center of rumors about a September Direct event this week as it is being reported that the company is potentially reviving its annual showcase after skipping out in 2024.
There are various rumors about what the September Direct event will bring this year, and while it is already expected that it will center on the Switch 2, there are still various titles that could potentially headline it.
Nintendo Direct Event September 2025 Rumors
Various insiders and sources claim that there is an upcoming Nintendo Direct event that is set for September, with one reliable leaker, NateTheHate, recently talking about this in their latest post.
Here, the leaker straight up confirmed that there will be a Direct event set for this month. According to NateTheHate, the event would most likely take place by the latter half of the week, speculating that it would either be on or around Friday, September 12.

When: The second week of the month, in the latter half on or around Sept 11 or 12th.
Nintendo would typically announce the showcase a day before its confirmed date, so it is possible that the company would share details regarding the show very soon. That being said, should Nintendo end up not announcing anything, it is possible that the event would not pan out this month.
According to ComicBook Gaming, Nintendo has held Direct events religiously in September since 2016, and the only time the company failed to hold one was last year, potentially because it was preparing for Switch 2's showcase.
That being said, it is speculated that Nintendo will hold a new Direct event as it is looking to bring more Switch 2 games to the spotlight to give players more choices in their library.
SEGA, 'Pokémon' Spinoff Expected
Based on ComicBook Gaming's report, SEGA will be one of the companies whose games will be showcased in the rumored Nintendo Direct event for September as it already teased four games with Altus for later this month.
It was revealed that SEGA has confirmed its attendance in the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2025.
This puts the timeline of the Nintendo Direct event in question again as it could either go ahead of the Tokyo Game Show or commence around the same week as the largest pop culture event in Japan.
On the other hand, a report by GameRant reveals that a new rumor shared by the likes of Centro Leaks, Necrolipe, and Riddler Khu is also speculating on the Nintendo Direct event for September. However, the three leakers are not talking about a SEGA game, but a new "Pokémon" spinoff series which would be unveiled to the public.
Rumor: According to Khu, something new from Pokémon that is not Legends Z-A will be announced this month.

The leakers also claim that it would not be about the upcoming "Pokémon Legends: Z-A" as the game set for October would have an independent showcase for later this month.
