New ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’ Anime Series Gets Title And Plot Synopsis

The latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump has more information on the upcoming new Yu-Gi-Oh! Anime series coming to Japan, including the title and some information regarding the plot of the series.

According to Shonen Jump, via Anime News Network, the new anime will be titled Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS and will feature VR duels.

The new Yu-Gi-Oh ! anime will have their featured characters using leading-edge technology to create a virtual space to host VR duels. Yusaku Fujiki, the show’s protagonist, transforms when he enters the VR space to duel. His hair changes color and he rides a surfboard while dueling.

Fujiki’s ace monster is named “Decode Talker”, a warrior-type monster who wields a giant sword. Take a look at some key art from Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS below showcasing Fujiki’s transformed state and his ace monster.

When VRAINS was first announced the only information given was about Fujiki who is described as a student who hates to stand out at his school. The theme for the new Yu-Gi-Oh! series is, "Let's take one step forward and try it!"

This does change, however, as Yūsaku starts meeting others through duels and starts moving forward.

Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS is set to premiere in Japan this Spring.
