2K and Gearbox Software revealed more about the upcoming New Tales from the Borderlands through a new extended gameplay footage. This standalone game offers players a choice-based interactive narrative adventure set in the Borderlands universe.

Fans finally get to see what they can expect from the game, thanks to the gameplay footage, with highlights being:

  • Every Choice Matters
    • Every choice a player makes can impact how the story unfolds, and often in unexpected ways.
    • Only by playing through the game will let players fully understand how their decisions can change the Borderlands.
  • Impact of Quick Time Events
    • Succeeding or failing QTEs has a tangible impact on the adventure.
    • It can lead to a premature conclusion, and at times, shape the story in unexpected ways.
  • Immersive Visuals
    • Aside from the stunning environments, the game uses improved movement and facial animations.
    • This was made possible through performance capture and facial mapping technology.

The Lovable Losers

We also learned more about the protagonists:

  • Anuradha Dahr
    • While Anuradha (Anu) may be uncomfortable in social settings, she’s good at solving problems.
    • Anu can see complex calculus and probabilities and solve puzzles using her Tech Glasses.
    • She dreams of a world where no one has to kill to get ahead.
  • Octavio Wallace Dahr
    • Octavio is the adopted brother of Anu and can be somewhat full of himself.
    • He considers himself the most popular citizen of Meridian City, though he has a long list of contacts to back this claim.
    • He can access information unlike any other.
    • He’s still waiting for his big break and longs for the day to own a business and make lots of cash.
  • Fran Miscowicz
    • She’s all about the action with her gadget-packed hover chair.
    • Fran used to run a frogurt shop, which was hit by a Maliwan laser, and is now seeking vengeance on the people that destroyed her shop.
    • She has no problems protecting her friends on her quest to receive the much-owed insurance payout.
