The next Pokémon Go update will reportedly add new Shiny Pokémon to the hit mobile game this week. There will also be two major events popping soon after the update is released.

For the two events, report has it that it could arrive immediately after the update. The first one could arrive at the end of the month, while the other one could run throughout the month of September. The second event, in particular, is believed to be an extended set of events. Both of them are said to jumpstart with new Shiny Pokémon, namely, Shiny Carvanha and Shiny Barboach.

Like with the previous Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Go, players will only be introduced to the most basic versions of these pocket monsters in the wild. In order to find and catch a Shiny Sharpedo, you need to find a Shiny Carvanha first. From there, you must have enough Carvanha candy in order to evolve that fish into a beast. Luckily for you, Niantic is planning to make these Pokémon available throughout the rest of the week.

The event started on August 23 and is expected to last until August 30. During the event, you should be able to chance upon a Shiny Barboach in the wild. But unlike in the past, Niantic has bump up the chances of finding the shiny version of this Pokémon. What's more, you can even evolve it into a Shiny Whiscash.

It should be noted that these Pokémon will first appear in eggs, although they will have much higher rates than before. Moreover, the studio has made it possible for players to find these Pokémon a tad easier.

As for the Water Festival in Pokémon Go, it is believed to include an increased likelihood of finding a slew of Water Pokémon. This includes, but is not limited to, Lapras, Lotad, Finneon, Piplup, Buizel, Seaking, Poliwhirl, and Squirtle. As always, most of them will appear near the water, although some will exist almost everywhere in the world.

Niantic has already confirmed that the next generation of Pokémon is coming to the game come September 16. The event will be called “A Unova Unveiling.”
