A new and improved version of the Nexus 6P could be hitting stores soon, as per recent results from the Geekbench Benchmark . The product testing tool has revealed that there is a version of the Nexus 6P that runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and the unreleased Google operating system, Android N.

Tech blog Android Community notes that a sighting on Geekbench Benchmark often means a device is close to release. There have been no other rumors about a Nexus 6P update. Such a launch seems odd, considering recent rumors indicate that HTC will likely manufacture two Nexus devices for Google in 2016. However, it's been awhile since Google has launched a Nexus tablet. The 2014 Nexus 9 tablet (ironically built by HTC) was removed from the Google Play Store Thursday.

Though several 2016 flagship devices have launched in recent months, many tech pundits hail the Nexus 6P as one of the top smartphones released in the last year. But the Nexus 6P isn’t without its issues. Among several issues include internal setbacks such as video playback issues and low call volume, which could possibly be remedied with a stronger processing chip.

The Nexus 6P is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip, which was plagued by overheating issues in several devices throughout 2015. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 can be found in many smartphones released in early 2016, including the Samsung Galaxy S7, the LG G5 and the Xiaomi Mi5. Thus far, there have been no major issues reported about the Snapdragon 820.

Though rumors suggest the coming Nexus devices may be manufactured by HTC, reports also suggest Huawei, who manufactured the Nexus 6P, is working on a device called the Huawei 7P. Without the Nexus branding, it isn’t clear whether this device would be affiliated with Google.

The manufacturer announced it’s Huawei 5X smartphone in January, following the launch of the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X, which was built by LG.
