With the LG G5 finally on the market, many real-life reviews and comparisons are starting to come in. In a recent speed test comparison YouTube user XEETECHCARE demonstrated out the 2016 LG G5 fares against the 2015 Nexus 6P in performance and functionality. The Nexus 6P launched in September 2015, but it is still a formidable device on the market, with many pundits stating it is preferred among the many new devices that have launched in recent months.

The LG G5 features the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip and 4GB of RAM while the Nexus 6P features the Snapdragon 810 and 3GB of RAM. While the LG G5 proved faster at many tasks, like opening and loading the Temple Run game, the YouTube application and camera applications, both devices opened apps like Instagram at relatively the same time. The Nexus 6P was even able to load some mobile web pages faster than the LG G5.

The YouTuber concluded that both devices are adept at multitasking with no refresh when pulling up applications running in the background. As a bonus, he tested the device’ fingerprint scanners and also found them equally reactive.

So for those still undecided about whether to go with the latest and greatest or an older model, the choice may come down to price. As the Nexus 6P gets older its price continues to drop, and Google often offers discounts on the smartphone. Currently it starts at $499 unlocked. Meanwhile, the LG G5 sells for about $630 unlocked, depending on the carrier or retailer.
