There’s been a lot of talk about The Defenders on Netflix, but Marvel’s Iron Fist seems to be getting left in the dust even though its March 17 release date is fastly approaching. However, new photos posted to Imgur and spread on Reddit should get you hyped.

While we don’t see Danny Rand's iconic iron fist light up orange from the inside out like in previous trailers, we do get a good look at his signature dragon insignia. The ‘Heart of the Dragon’ symbol was branded on Danny’s chest after he defeated the undying Shou-La Dragon, gaining the power of the Iron Fist from its molten heart.

IRON FISTTT!!!

So far, we’ve only seen Danny Rand in casual clothes and a recent Facebook Live with Finn Jones suggests the character may pay homage to the classic costume, like Luke Cage and Jessica Jones did, without going over the top superhero. It’s likely we’ll see Danny with a more casual unbuttoned shirt exposing his dragon insignia, possibly wearing a bandana mask. Or, he could go shirtless all together, like we see in these new photos, instead of wearing a full-on green suit.

“I mean, who says there’s going to be a costume?” Jones says in the video. “This is a modern - I can’t say any more. Marvel are going to kill me. There maybe a costume, there may not be. We’re looking at a suit that, you know...”

Danny Rand harnesses all his spiritual energy, chi, to form his iconic Iron Fist and gain supernatural abilities.

Since Danny Rand will be doing all sorts of martial arts--Kung Fu, wushu, dragon, tiger, monkey--can we blame the guy for wanting to wear loose pants? What kind of costume are you hoping Danny Rand wears? Let us know in the comments below!

The Struggle Is Not Real
If you’re looking for shock value, Iron Fist does not have it. Netflix and Marvel have turned an interesting superhero into a basic bro.
  • Colleen Wing is a delight
  • The last four episodes are significantly more entertaining
  • Problematic character development
  • Lackadaisical fight scenes
