We really like stories where people are forced to kill each other in a dystopian pressure cooker for the amusement of a shadowy elite. This is extremely our shit. There must just be something really appealing to us about forcing young people to kill each other, forcing young people to kill each other in English this time and their twisted chainsaw cousins: hunting poor people and torturing prisoners with elaborate death games. Would you also like to watch middle-class, white collar workers kill each other because they didn’t read the fine print in their employment contracts?

This is the third trailer for The Belko Experiment. While some of the more well-worn ideas, like explosive implants or collars are a good excuse to use the word “hoary,” The Belko Experiment has some definite points of appeal.

See which ones strike you in The Belko Experiment Trailer #3:

Directed by Greg McLean (Wolf Creek) and written by James Gunn (Slither, Guardians of the Galaxy), The Belko Experiment’s a promising team-up. The cast is fun too, especially because it includes Michael Rooker. In Slither, The Walking Dead, Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer and The Dark Half, Rooker proves just how much he can add to a horror movie. Or really any movie.

And in this year Michael Rooker is in two movies. He’ll be a crucial part of the ensemble in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, too.
