Naughty Dog Upcoming Game Will Be “Structured” Like a TV Show

Naughty Dog

Naughty Dog is one of the few studios in the industry committed to developing linear adventures. While many other developers follow the industry trend of battle royale or open-world games, ND has regularly released single-player experiences that feel like a perfect blend of games and movies. A recent interview with the co-president of the studio suggests that you can expect more games like that.

Neil Druckmann, creator of The Last of Us, revealed some intriguing information during an interview. He claimed that his next game will be “structured more like a TV show” than anything else the studio had made.

That statement is quite saying something given that many previous ND titles are already extremely cinematic. Some fans got worried that this would mean ND will release games in an episodic manner, similar to Telltale Games, but that won’t be the case. Druckmann clarified his statement on Twitter and posted: “It’s about making our games in an even more collaborative manner.”

The Last of Us Part 3?

He also said that his next game isn’t being written by him alone, but by a whole team of writers. There’s no information available about Druckmann’s next game. However, a previous leak has suggested that he is working on The Last of Us Part 3.

A sequel to The Last of Us Part 2 makes sense as the game was a major financial success. Two years ago, Neil claimed that he had already outlined the story of TLOU3.

Future Naughty Dog Games

Whatever the next game will be, we know it’s going to be mature. Naughty Dog confirmed last year that they won’t be making any more kid-friendly games like Crash Bandicoot or Jak and Daxter.

We know that the developer is working on a standalone TLOU multiplayer game yet details about the next single-player outing are quite scarce. Previous rumors have suggested that a new IP is also in development, which is not official confirmation at present.

So, what do you think? Are you interested in Naughty Dog’s next game? Do you want TLOU3 or a new IP from the developer? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
