Mr. Robot Season 2 episode 2 was much more eventful than the first, which secretly premiered three days ago (Read the Mr. Robot Season 2 episode 1 recap here ). The Mr. Robot Season 2 premiere Part 1 was mostly just deranged banter between Mr. Robot and Elliot. This was not the case in Part 2. In fact, neither of the two even spoke until 12 minutes into the episode. While we still don’t know where Tyrell Wellick is, it’s a relief to know he’s most likely alive. Where exactly is another story, but one thing is for sure: Mr. Robot has all the answers, not Elliot. Mr. Robot Season 2 episode 3 will hopefully expand on the cliffhangers of the latest episode, so here’s a recap of the most important things that went down in the two-part Mr. Robot Season 2 premiere.

What’s fscoiety’s next move against E Corp?

E Corp CTO Scott Knowles decides he’ll be the one to fulfill Darlene and fscociety’s demand to bring $5.9 million in cash to Battery Park. After an extra-long staring session with a random guy with a dog, a messenger bikes by and hands a backpack to Knowles. There’s a fsociety mask inside and he’s instructed he has 10 seconds to put on the mask and burn the money in front of the gathering crowd, or else fsociety will send ransomware that makes E Corp banks inaccessible. (Money is worthless, right?) Meanwhile, Darlene watches from a distance.

Gideon Goddard Murdered By...

Gideon’s killer screamed, “In the name of the country” before he shot the former Allsafe employee point-blank in a bar. Gideon reached out to Elliot during episode 1, asking him for help and to “do the right thing.” Elliot refused. However, it's no coincidence Mr. Robot spoke about killing Gideon in that same conversation ("If I sliced open his neck right now, would it be me doing it, or you doing it?"). Could Elliot have called the hit on Gideon the night before when he was having delusions with Ray? After all, Gideon did threaten to expose him.

Will The U.S. Government Help E Corp?

Phillip Price basically got down on his knees and begged for a bailout, but government officials say the President can't go to Congress with another bailout proposal and they ask him to resign as CEO. He’s able to convince keeping his position is ultimately better for the company.

Newscasts and the hashtag #IneptLawInforcement fill TV screens with Tyrell Wellick’s face at the front of both the fsociety hacks and the murder of Sharon Knowles, but FBI Agent Dominique "Dom" DiPierro will do her best to find the truth, especially now that Gideon is dead.

What Does Joanna Know?

Joanna meets some dude, and after chilling a knife in a bucket of ice he runs the cold, sharp edge down her back, cuts her with the blade, and slaps her in the face. After that’s all done, her security detail comes into the bathroom while she’s bathing to deliver a mysterious package. It’s a music box... with a cell phone taped on the back.

Angela Is Switching Sides?

Angela has decided to keep her job at E Corp. She’s either just really good at going undercover, or she has her own secret mission to avenge her father’s wrongful death. She’s nowhere to be found in episode 1, but in episode 2 she uses her her PR skills to swindle an interview about fsociety and E Corp. Bloomberg won’t do the interview because they want to ask for details about the money-burning ransom. Angela eventually gets Bloomberg to bow to her terms after threatening to go with CNBC -- no ransom questions, and a single pre-approved question about Plouffe’s on-camera suicide.

Angela’s agenda is a mystery. After work, she spends her time with random guys and watches creepy confidence-building programs, even repeating the positive affirmation phrases over and over while sitting in the dark.

Ray Is fsociety?

Leon almost gets into a fight at the basketball courts, but Ray stops it just in time. He sits down next to Elliot with a Bloodhound named Maxine. He tries to befriend Elliot, and even brings up the fact that he’s heard talk of his computer skills. Like Elliot’s relationship with Leon, he just sits and listens to Ray talk about life (“Maybe truth doesn't even exist,” Ray ponders).

The next day, Ray and Elliot talk again but this time Elliot is more irritable than the day before. Ray turns to Elliot, “Feeling ok, Chief?” he asks. Elliot gives him a look of confusion. “You really don't remember, do you?” Ray continues, as Elliot storms away with a terrified look on his face.

Tyrell Is Alive?

Joanna gets a call from an unkown number on the mysterious cell phone that arrived at her home hours before. She misses the call.

After talking with Ray, Elliot realizes last night there was a gap in his consciousness (“I’m going to make you realize that they see me,” Mr. Robot says). A psychotic smile turns into evil laughter as he approaches Mr. Robot and says, “Tell me where Tyrell is.”

Elliot then makes a call. The line rings. “It’s really you. Bonsoir, Elliot”

Is it Tyrell on the other end? Find out when Mr. Robot returns July 20 at 10 p.m.
