By now you probably know that Mortal Kombat 11 is ready to launch its Free Trial Weekend this weekend. This is good for those who are interested in the game, but are not yet convinced enough to buy it. This free trial begins tomorrow, October 11, and ends on Monday, October 14. That should be enough time for you to decide whether to go ahead with a Mortal Kombat 11 purchase or not.

Today's guide gives you the details on how to download the Kombat Pack and try out the DLC characters.

Before we begin teaching you how to download this DLC, the Kombat Pack can be purchased as a standalone or included as part of the Premium Edition. In addition to getting access to upcoming characters, you also get new skins and gear. This is what you can expect from the Kombat Pack:

  • 6 New Upcoming DLC Playable Characters
    • Shang Tsung – Available Now
    • Nightwolf – Available Now
    • Terminator T-800 – Available Now
    • Sindel – Available November 26, 2019
    • Joker – Available January 28, 2020
    • Spawn – Available March 17, 2020
  • 1 week of early access to all DLC characters listed above
  • Premium Skins including Ninja Mime Johnny Cage, War Games Sonya Blade and more
  • 6 themed skin packs
    • The Klassic Arcade Ninja Skin Pack – Available Now
    • The Klassic Arcade Fighter Pack – Available Now
    • 4 additional Skin Packs to be released alongside Terminator T-800, Sindel, Joker, and Spawn

That said, let's go to the technical part

PlayStation 4

If you're using PlayStation 4 then here are the steps you need to follow:

  • Go to the MK 11 Page on the Game Library or PS4 Home Menu.
  • Select the game and scroll down to the bottom and look for the "PlayStation Store" section.
  • Your content should be in the "Your Add-ons."
    • Any content you already own should be downloaded from this section.
    • If not then go to the "View All" section.
    • Content that you own should be listed here and shown as Free.
    • Choose the content and start the download.
    • After that it should be listed in the "Your Add-ons" section.

What happens if you downloaded specific content and still cannot access it in-game? The best option would be to restore your PSN licenses from the PS4 Home Menu. Here's how you do it:

  • Select "Settings"
  • Select "PlayStation Network/Account Management"
  • Select "Restore Licenses"

Once this is done, the content should be in the "My Add-ons" or available in-game. If it's still not accessible then maybe its a firmware issue since you need at least version 6.71 or higher in order to run the DLC. To check, you need to go to "Settings" and then select "System Information." Three things can happen here:

  • The firmware is 6.71 or higher so you should be good.
  • The firmware has been downloaded but not installed.
    • Install the firmware by going to the Notifications section of the PS4 Dashboard
  • The firmware is earlier than 6.71 so it's not compatible.
    • To update the firmware go to System then select System Software Update.

If you did #3, then all that's left is to restart the console and see if you can now access the DLC. If there's still a problem then the remaining solution would be to de-activate your PS4 and primary PS4 console and then re-activate it. Hopefully this finally gives you access to the DLC. Here are the steps you need to perform this:

  • On your PS4, sign in to the account that you used to buy or own the DLC content.
  • From the Home Screen go to "Settings" then select "Account Management."
  • Select "Activate as Your Primary PS4."
    • Choose "Deactive" then click "Reactivate."
  • Once you complete this try accessing the DLC again.

If it still doesn't work then you need to contact support in order to get the necessary assistance. Take note that this is only for the PS4. Don't worry though as the other platforms don't have much of an issue.

Xbox One

For Xbox One, the steps you need to do to access your MK 11 Kombat Pack are:

  • Go to "My Games and Apps"
  • Search for Mortal Kombat 11 and once you find it press Menu on your controller
    • The Menu is the button that has three lines on it
  • Choose "Manage Game"
    • Go to the right and see what DLC is available for you to install
    • Once selected, you can install the different pieces of the Kombat Pack content that you want

Nintendo Switch

Like the Xbox One, the Switch is pretty straighforward as well. Here are the steps to download the DLC:

  • Go to the Main Menu
    • Look for Mortal Kombat 11
    • Press "+" on the controller
  • Select "Software Information" and then choose "Nintendo eShop"
  • Go to "Downloadable Content" and then choose "View All Items"
    • You should be able to see all DLC you own
  • In order to download the DLC you want, go to your Switch Profile Image which is located on the top-right of the screen.
    • This should lead you to "Account Information"
  • Go to the "Redownload" section to see which DLC or games you own but haven't yet downloaded.
    • You should be able to see the Mortal Kombat 11 cloud icon.
    • Tap the icon to automatically download any content released from the Kombat Pack

Steam

Finally we go to the PC, which is through Steam. Here's what you do:

  • Acces your Steam Account
  • Look for Mortal Kombat 11
  • Right click and select Properties
  • Go to the "Install" column
    • A checkbox shows if the DLC has been downloaded and installed
    • If unchecked, check the box to start the download

Here's a bit of troubleshooting, though. If the Install box shows that the Kombat Pack has been checked, but you can't access it in-game, then follow these steps:

  • Go to the Properties menu of Mortal Kombat 11
  • Click on "Local Files"
  • Select "Verify Integrity of Game Files"
  • Once the process is complete, check in-game if you can access the content

There you have it. Hopefully you have everything ready and get the chance to play. Grab the opportunity and try Mortal Kombat 11 and its Kombat Pack during this Free Trial Weekend.
