During the Monster Hunter Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that the next game in the Monster Hunter series will be Monster Hunter XX or Monster Hunter Double Cross.

The Monster Hunter announcement came with a Japanese release date of March 18, 2017, as well as a brand new trailer, which you can see below.

According to Anime News Network, Monster Hunter XX will have four styles from Monster Hunter Generations: Guild, Strike, Aerial and Bushido Styles but there will be two new Styles to choose from. One is Brave Style and the other was not announced.

Monster Hunter XX will also have a new field called “Igunrei” and a new “Ryushikisen” base and will include six main monsters, including Gammoth, Astalos, Mizutsune and Glavenus. Balfarc will be a new main monster and there will be a new Diablos variant. Diablos variants (or Deviants Monsters in West) were introduced in Monster Hunter Generations and are monsters that survived previous hunter encounters but when they return, they have mutated and evolved into a greater threat.

These Deviant Monsters come with new behaviours and abilities, and players will gain access to new and more powerful gear for defeating them.

It was also announced that players with save data from Monster Hunter Generations and Monster Hunter Stories will get a special bonus.

There was no Western release date for the new Monster Hunter game but with the Monster Hunter XX coming in the first quarter of 2017, it’s possible the West may get it in time for the Holiday season.

We will update as soon as we learn more but in the meantime let us know if you’re excited for the next installment of the Monster Hunter series in the comments section below.
