Monster Hunter Stories looks to change up the Monster Hunter formula when the game releases in Japan in October by allowing hunters to hatch eggs and raise beasts to battle enemies and other players online.

A new Monster Hunter Stories trailer -- via Siliconera -- shows off this new feature. Take a look at the new trailer below.

The new egg feature in Monster Hunter Stories lets hunters acquire eggs to get new monsters. There will be plenty of monsters for you to become buddies with in Monster Hunter Stories and they each have their own unique characteristics.

Hunters can also build the characteristics of their buddy monsters, but how it’s done isn’t yet known. You can then take your buddy monsters into battle against enemies in-game or against other players online.

Monster Hunter Stories is set to release in Japan Oct. 8 so these new features will be revealed when the game finally launches.

There is no North American release date for Monster Hunter Stories at this time, but fans eager to play can buy Monster Hunter Generations, which is available now for the Nintendo 3DS.
