A brand new Monster Hunter game was announced at Sony’s E3 2017 press conference and Monster Hunter: World will bring an open-world game to multiple platforms on the same release date all over the world.

The Monster Hunter: World announcement came with a trailer that showcased how great the graphics look on these consoles as well as the release date window. Take a look at the first trailer for Monster Hunter: World.

Monster Hunter: World will introduce a living, breathing ecosystem as up to three players can join groups to take down monsters in an ever-changing terrain.

Those who like to hunt alone can still do so but the option to jump into a hunting party is there through an online drop-in multiplayer system, which allows cross-region cooperative play between Japan and the west for the first time.

This new online drop-in functionality will allow solo players to hail for assistance from the worldwide group during quests when their opponents are too daunting to take on single-handedly.

Monster Hunter: World will keep the series’ skill based progression and robust crafting system, players gear up to venture on quests to seek and slay monsters, progressively improving their skills to become the ultimate hunter. Loot collected from fallen foes can be used to create new equipment and armor upgrades styled after the monsters they’ve slain, allowing hunters to survive the elements and defeat the tougher opponents that await them.

Monster Hunter: World will also be the first game in the series with a worldwide simultaneous launch window and is planned for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in early 2018, with a PC release to follow at a later date.
