If you’re hankering for a decent, competitive, yet still amusingly fun multiplayer arena fighting experience, then Komi Games might have the thing for you, just in time for the holiday season. The Toronto-based developer has officially announced Mighty Fight Federation, a multiplayer arena battler set to be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. The developer also released an announcement trailer to showcase what we can expect from Mighty Fight Federation – you can check it out below and behold its glorious mayhem.

The game reminds me a lot of Power Stone and LastFight, two amazing titles built on the same premise – choose from a selection of fighters and duke it out with other players in a confined space using melee combos or environmental attacks. Mighty Fight Federation sports a deeper focus on fighting game fundamentals, allowing for some sick combos and fast, high-flying attacks. The game also lets you choose between eleven different fighters, each coming with their own unique playstyle and in-depth combo mechanics.

The combat is built upon a system called Hype, where each character has their own Hype mechanic suitable for zoning, evading and countering your opponents. It seems like this is being billed as somewhat more competitive than other 3D arena fighters, while still retaining a decent amount of charm through the use of colorful characters and silly backdrops.

Mighty Fight Federation has a story mode, in which you play solo to uncover the plans of a cosmic being called Hyperion. Across the vast reaches of space, Hyperion has collected the “hypest” warriors in the multiverse to pit them against each other in the biggest pay-per-view event in the galaxy: The Mighty Fight Federation.

Mighty Fight Federation supports up to four players, both locally and online, so you can expect quite the mayhem once you fill in those slots. It also comes with this hype soundtrack featuring music from the likes of Tee Lopes (Sonic Mania), James Landino (RWBY, No Straight Roads), Vince DiCola (Rocky IV, Transformers) and Manami Matsumae (Mega Man, Shovel Knight).

Mighty Fight Federation will release first on PC via Steam Early Access in Q4 of 2019, followed by console releases for the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in Q2 of 2020.
