Microids Announces Slate Of Playable Titles For Gamescom 2019

As Gamescom 2019 draws closer, with now less than a month to go, more developers and publishers are starting to announce their playable titles for one of the biggest gaming events of the year.

Just last week, Microsoft and Xbox announce their plans and lineup for the event, which is chockfull of upcoming games across the Xbox and PC platform under the Xbox Game Studios label. The news has been out for a bit now, but TaleWorlds has also announced that the first ever playable beta for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord will be debuted at Gamescom this year.

Now, France-based publisher and developer Microids has announced what their lineup of games will be for Gamescom 2019, which will take place from August 20 to August 24 at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. Check out the games below, with two of them playable by the public, and a third, highly-anticipated one only playable for the press.

  • Asterix & Obelix XXL 3: The Crystal Menhir set for release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and Mac, this third iteration in the video game adaptation of the highly popular French comic book series will be playable by the public. It’s an action adventure title starring the Gallic duo Asterix and Obelix as they fight against the Roman Empire set against different backdrops. For the first time in the series, Asterix & Obelix XXL 3: The Crystal Menhir can be played cooperatively in a split-screen co-op mode.
  • Blacksad: Under the Skin this title is set for release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and Mac, and although it’s once again delayed to November, the public will be able to play it during Gamescom 2019. Blacksad : Under the Skin is a video game adaptation of the Eisner-award winning comic album series which mostly follows the adventures of John Blacksad, an anthropomorphic black cat who’s also a private investigator.
  • XIII set for release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and Mac on November 13, this game will only be available to the press. XIII is based on the Belgian graphic novel of the same name and follows the story of XIII, an amnesiac who is framed with the killing of the President of the United States.
