Your character in Metroid Prime: Federation Force will need everything in their disposal to complete the missions in the game.

However, there are a bunch of upgrades you can find/collect that will make completing these missions much easier. They range from upgrading your defenses to changing how your weapons function.

But let’s dive into how mods work in Federation Force so you can better prepare yourself before every mission.

HOW MODS WORK

When entering a mission, you can customize your marine in a variety of ways. First you can change your paint job; this is just an aesthetic choice and has no bearing on your stats or how you play.

The other is your armor’s mods. You start with one mod slot and can earn two more slots by winning medals in every mission. Each mission has three medals to win, completing a mission gives you one medal automatically, while the other two depend on your mission score.

The second slot is opened up after earning three medals. The third slot opens up after you’ve earned 19 medals.

If you die or abort a mission, some mods can be destroyed, so beware.

LIST OF MODS

There are a bunch of different mods you can equip in Federation Force and they are divided into three groups: Offensive, Defensive and Support.

Offensive mods boost your damage output, defensive mods increase your (and your drone’s) defenses, while support mods change how different weapons interact and let you launch decoys.
