Literary-inspired action RPG Quote from London-based indie game developer Vindit is making its “First Draft” alpha version available until 7AM EST on Friday, Dec. 16, Vindit has announced in a press release.

By purchasing “First Draft,” players will be able to experience the first two chapters of Quote. The opportunity to enter the alpha is limited: the store closes on Dec. 16 until Quote arrives in Early Access in early 2017.

"We’re desperate to show Quote to the universe, but it's early-ish days and so we've decided to limit it to an especially excited few before we fling the doors wide open," said Vindict co-founder Robin Lacey. "The limited First Draft availability means we can establish a small but enthusiastic community with which to lay the groundwork for the eradication of all knowledge from the world. That will be Bliss indeed."

Quote pays tribute to writers such as Angela Carter, Ernest Hemingway and Jorge Luis Borges, with inspiration citing “Vonnegut, Bradbury, Eco, Huxley and the surreal art of Hieronymus Bosch.” According to the press release, Quote features “fully-voiced, real-time narration, over 20 unlockable abilities and a delicious blend of action and deduction” that takes the player through “a dark, witty and explosive journey through a beautiful but ravaged world.”

Access to the Quote alpha is available at the game’s website here until 7 AM EST on Dec. 16 at a 50% discount of $12. Keys will be provided via itch.io, with a Steam key also made available after Quote moves to Steam Early Access in 2017.

The full version of Quote is due for release late next year with six hand-drawn chapters telling the tale of Novella’s journey to ignorance.
