Next week’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow episode, “The Magnificent Eight,” will introduce Johnathon Schaech (Ray Donovan) as Jonah Hex. What do we know so far? The Legends need a place to hide out after their journey to 2147 and choose the good ole’ Wild West. Challenged by a gang of outlaws, Rip’s old friend Jonah Hex steps in and saves them.

During a recent Reddit AMA, Schaech answered questions from fans excited to see his take on Jonah Hex. He described his character as violent, angry and sassy.

“Jonah Hex is like an outlaw lawmen. He’s a former confederate soldier raised by Apaches. He always got the short end of the stick, but always got out of the bad experience he found himself. He has staying power. HEX has gone through many stages in the comics. Bounty hunter, time traveler -- as well as a movie star and now prime time TV," he added.

Schaech is no stranger to the Jonah Hex comics and said he goes so far to say he was "born to play" the character. “My father gave me Jonah Hex and Sgt. Rock comic books growing up -- I must have read those a thousand times. He always had a dry sense of humour, even in the worst of times. So I played with the scenes like that and I just imagined I was what I thought of Hex when I was a boy.”

Schech said he wasn’t inspired by the failed 2010 film at all. “Hex isn’t just an outlaw or a bounty hunter, he’s a man who stood up for people who can’t stand up for themselves,” he said.

Earlier this week, DenofGeek caught up with showrunner Marc Guggenheim who praised Schaech’s portrayal of Jonah Hex.

“Jonathan is an amazing Jonah Hex. I would say very, very faithful to the comics incarnation with a touch more sass, a little bit more attitude. He’s great and watching his interactions with Rip are gold,” the producer said.

We’ll have to wait a little over a week for Jonah Hex’s CW debut. In this week’s episode, “Progency,” Rip Hunter takes the Legends to 2147.

Rip tells the team they are headed to the future to take out a powerful ally that Savage needs in order to conquer the world. However, when Rip reveals the ally is a 14 year-old boy who will one day grow into an evil dictator, the team is split about the morality of killing a child, even if it does save the world. Meanwhile, Sara talks Snart through a rough patch and Ray learns something that could impact his future with Kendra.”

Hopefully we’ll learn more about the Time Masters through Mick, who was revealed as Chronos last episode. When Snart (aka Captain Cold) left him for dead in the forrest, the Time Masters’ saved him and brought him to the Vanishing point, where time doesn't exist. He spent a lifetime training there and truly believes he was“reborn.” At the end of last week’s episode, “Left Behind,” the Legends team commits to helping Mick reform himself even though he tried to kill all of them. Will Mick rejoin the team?

Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursday at 8 p.m. on The CW. Looking for more Legends of Tomorrow season finale spoilers? A ‘beloved DC Comics character’ will be joining the team, who could it be?
