League of Legends: Wild Rift is set to release a new patch next week and it will introduce many new things, including new champions, items, and skins. Also, you can expect more changes to be implemented in Season 3.

Alan Moore, Wild Rift’s Game Director, said in a recent dev stream that there are a lot of new changes coming in the game’s next huge update.

Moore mentioned several things in the video but highlighted some of them below.

New Champions

With every major update, you can always expect new Champions to join the fray. According to Moore, Akshan, Brand, and Nunu & Willump will be the next additions to Wild Rift 's ever-expanding roster.

Akshan will be introduced first once the update goes live, while Brand and Nunu won’t come until later. Brand is expected to arrive in September, and Nunu is likely a little later. Since Moore said "soon," we don't know when exactly the pair will come to the game.

New Items

In the new update, three items that may change the current meta - two of which are completely new. The first one is the Solari Chargeblade and its effect gives a temporary bonus to critical strikes every time they use an ability.

The Crystalline Reflector is a handy tool for mages and other squishy Champions. It basically gives you physical damage mitigation and the power to reflect incoming damage back to your opponents.

Essence Reaver is finally coming to Wild Rift in Patch 2.4. The item gives a damage boost to your abilities and it also restores some mana on every attack.

Changes to Ranked Play

The game’s promotion matches are made to test your skill. Passing the test would mean that you go up the ranks, but this presents a lot of problems for some people.

In the upcoming update, Moore said that they are removing the “Promotion Series” in hopes of making your Ranked play much smoother. In other words, there will be no more promotion matches in between rank tiers, so your experience should be more enjoyable than ever before.

More Champion Bans

This next change is significant, especially for Ranked play. In Patch 2.4, the last three remaining players on both teams will have one Champion ban each. This results in a total of three banned Champions on each team.

Because there will be six banned Champions in total, the devs have opted to make free-to-play Champion rotations available as well.
