The League of Legends: Wild Rift dev team celebrates the upcoming Lunar New Year with the game’s first major content update in 2023. Patch 4.0 introduces a new champion that can be quite troublesome in the mid-lane.

Meet the New Champion

Zoe, the Aspect of Twilight brings mischief and mayhem to Wild Rift. She is a bursty mage that can steal spells and deal lots of damage, though players must know how to fully utilize her abilities for maximum benefit.

Her passive ability empowers her next basic attack after casting a spell, dealing bonus magic damage to enemies.

Paddle Star, her first main ability, deserves a special mention. That’s because Zoe fires a missile that can be redirected mid-flight and deals more damage the longer it flies in a straight line. To maximize the distance, Zoe can launch the missile away from the enemy and time it just right before recasting it. This will redirect the projectile toward the intended target. Of course, this requires practice to get the timing right, but once it’s mastered, Zoe can deal insane damage with minimal effort.

Another ability that makes Zoe stand out is Spell Thief. How does this work? Well, every time an enemy casts a spell or uses a boot enchantment, they will drop shards that Zoe can pick up. Zoe can then cast the spell stored in the shard once.

Her third ability called Sleepy Trouble Bubble is a very useful CC, especially against enemies that are running away. When cast, Zoe hurls a bubble that can cause the target to fall asleep after a short delay. The good thing about this is that affected targets receive double damage from the next attack up to 235 (+45% AP).

Zoe’s Ultimate, Portal Jump, allows her to blink to a nearby location and then portal back to the point of origin shortly after. This can be used to lengthen the distance of Paddle Star’s projectile even further for more damage. What’s more, Portal Jump has a very short cooldown, so Zoe can zoom in and out quite often in a match.

ARURF Returns

Patch 4.0 also brings the popular All Random Ultra Rapid Fire Mode back to Wild Rift. This is a special game mode where all abilities are free to cast and have very short cooldowns, allowing players to use them more frequently than in any other game mode in Wild Rift.

Furthermore, some of the champions’ stats have been increased, including critical strike damage, attack speed, movement speed, and base tenacity.

Expect fun and chaos in ARURF!

So, what can you say about the new champion Zoe? Are you going to play in ARURF soon?
