Publisher THQ Nordic and developer Kaiko have just released a new trailer for the upcoming remaster of the open-world fantasy role-playing game Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning. The trailer, titled Choose Your Destiny: Might, showcases some of the remaster’s gameplay, visuals, and more.

Originally launched in 2012, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is an open-world fantasy RPG from the minds of bestselling author R.A. Salvatore, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion lead designer Ken Rolston. Set in the Faelands, one of the Kingdoms of Amalur, players assume the role of a character known as Fateless. Soon after, they can customize Fateless from four playable races, which are the Almain and Varani of humanity and the Dokkalfar and Ljosalfar of the elven race. There are then three classes which the players can choose from which correspond to the archetypal fighter, mage, and rogue classes, namely Might, Sorcery, and Finesse classes. Each of these classes has their own unique skill-tree systems which grant powerful stat bonuses or unlock useful abilities.

Gameplay-wise, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning plays like an ARPG with occasional quick-time events. What also sets it apart is its fate system and Reckoning Mode that allows players to quickly execute enemies. Also, aside from the earlier mentioned skill trees, Amalur also contains tons of gear that can change the way players approach combat, such weapons and pieces of armor. Since its release in 2012, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning has since received positive acclaim, currently sitting at a Very Positive Rating on its Steam Page and boasting an 81 out of 100 rating on Metacritic.

So far, nothing has been announced yet regarding what new features players should expect in this upcoming remaster. It has been confirmed, though, that Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-reckoning will receive all the DLC from the original release such as the Teeth of Naros and Legend of Dead Kel expansions. Graphical improvements aside, I hope we do get more DLC in this coming remaster.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is set to release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam on September 8. You can check out the previous trailer highlighting Finesse down below.
