BASICS

The basics of Gear in Injustice 2 has a lot to do with the character’s stats. There are four different stats that determine your fighter’s strengths.

Strength is how strong your strikes are.

Ability determines how strong your superhero powers are.

Defense determines how well you can take hits.

Health determines how much base health you start with.

Gear can boost one or more of these stats, allowing players to focus on certain aspects of battle. You can use gear that boosts Strength and Ability to make yourself a glass cannon or you can use gear that boosts your Defense and Health to become an immovable object.

There is Gear for your Head, Torso, Legs, Arms and an accessory that’s different for every Injustice 2 character. Only one Gear for each body part can be equipped at a time.

However, you may notice that each Gear has a specific level attached to it. There are a few things you need to know about Gear levels and your individual character’s level. The first being that if a Gear level is higher than the fighter’s level, it cannot be equipped. The higher the Gear level, the better the stat boosts and augments.

When you get a Gear from a random drop, the level of that Gear will be the same or a level above that character’s current level. Sometimes you will receive Gear that is much higher than your current level but that’s rare.

Gear is also classified by rarity ranging from common to epic. The higher the rarity, the bigger the boost in stats or augmented abilities.

Abilities can be gained through certain Gear. These Abilities can range from taking less damage from level transitions and environmental interactions to dealing more damage to Kryptonians. These augments are normally in yellow text and are visible when you select that Gear.

Certain Gear have a common theme because they are part of a set. If all pieces of the set are equipped, that character will receive a Set Bonus that will give them even more abilities in battle.

REGENERATING GEAR

A character’s level maxes out at 20 so some of the Gear you pick up along the way may become obsolete unless you Regenerate it.

Regenerating Gear in Injustice 2 allows for players to raise the level of a specific Gear to match the character.

Select a piece Gear to Regenerate. The tats will be Regenerated, and it's overall level will increase to match the current character level. You can choose to keep the previous version after Regenerating, too.

You need to win Regen Tokens (green tokens) in Multiverse mode to perform a regeneration.

TRANSFORMING GEAR

There will be certain Gear that you like the look of but the stats or abilities aren’t great in battle. In Injustice 2, you can actually transform the Gear to look like the one you want but give it the ability of a “superior” piece.

Transforming a piece of Gear will change its appearance to that of another piece without affecting its Stats. This will cost credits, which you can earn in Multiverse mode, decoding Mother Boxes and having battles.

HOW TO GET GEAR

Gear can be obtained in a variety of ways. If you play single or multiplayer modes, after every battle you’ll have a chance to get a Gear drop. What you get is random but the Gear for the character you are using will appear more often than others.

Finishing certain chapters in the Story mode will also give certain Gear so be sure to play the Story mode until you get 100 percent completion.

And finally, Gear can always be found Mother Boxes.

MOTHER BOXES

Mother Boxes are the loot crates of Injustice 2. By opening them, you’ll receive random Gear. The Mother Boxes are classified by rarity from Bronze to Platinum. The higher the rarity, the more Gear comes out of the Mother Box, with the higher rarities dropping Epic Gear more often.

They are also broken up into normal Mother Boxes and Guild Mother Boxes. The difference between those two is how you can obtain them and what you need to spend for them.

Normal Mother Boxes can be bought by spending credits earned in battles. Guild Mother Boxes are bought using Guild Credits, which are earned by completing Multiverse Towers in Guild Mode.

You can also win Mother Boxes by completing tasks and objectives in Multiverse Mode. Go into Multiverse Mode and complete a tower, the first completion usually drops three Mother Boxes as well as the possibility for three more depending on how you score at the end.
